Congas, the new washbasin from Regia, evokes the name and form of the musical instrument of the same name used by Afro-American slaves to express their emotions and accompany their traditional songs.[+]
Similar to a tall, narrow drum, the washbasin is made in a single tecnoglass mould to create a unique piece. With the Congas design, Bruna Rapisarda, the company’s designer, wanted to cater for a need for new forms and emotions in a bathroom environment that is currently excessively formal. By working on the lines, capturing their softness and imagining them to be sinuous and infinite, Regia has created a freestanding washbasin with a strong innovative concept, characterised by a large basin and available in a wide range of different colours. At 87 cm high, Congas incorporates a basin of 30 cm deep and 50 cm wide. The use, during the production phase, of a new moulding technology has also made it possible to reduce the weight of the washbasin considerably. The manufacture of Congas involves the application of several layers of lacquer, covering the whole surface of the washbasin. It is available in all RAL colours and, in order to cater for Regia's trendiest clientele, it is also available in a version decorated with black and white graphics.
